Individual Use Website Version
The Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 established requirements to consult Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) when ordering and furnishing Medicare Part B advanced imaging services (CT, MR, PET, NM).
The timeline for implementation is aggressive. Starting January 1, 2018 evidence of a consultation of AUC by an Ordering Provider must be attached to the claim for it to be payable. A consultation is required for every advanced imaging service.
AUC consultation offers an alternative form of prior authorization for Medicare Part B Advanced Imaging services, without cumbersome administrative processes.
CareSelect Imaging delivers Appropriate Use Criteria AUC published by the American College of Radiology, the American College of Cardiology and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network®. Each, a qualified Provider Led Entity (qPLE).
National Decision Support Company (NDSC) offers a complimentary access free web site version of its qualified Clinical Decision Support Mechanism (qCQDM) in collaboration with its qPLE partners to enable widespread access to the tools needed for compliance.
