National Decision Support Company Announces Client Base Expansion

September 22, 2017 By National Decision Support Company

New EMR partnerships and growth of decision support capabilities have driven widespread adoption of the company’s CareSelect™ Platform

Madison, WI (September 22, 2017) – National Decision Support Company (NDSC) announces its expansion and widespread adoption of its suite of Clinical Decision Support solutions. NDSC’s solutions, powered by the company’s CareSelect Platform, have been adopted nationwide across all 50 states. In total, more than 380 health systems including over 2,700 acute care facilities use NDSC’s solutions every day to power their clinical decision support and quality improvement programs. Each month, NDSC’s CareSelect Platform facilitates over 3.5 million decision support consultations.

The company attributes this growth to market adoption in advance of legislation requiring caregivers to consult Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) when ordering advanced imaging tests, and to NDSC’s expanded range of capabilities.

Every major EMR across the acute and ambulatory market has integrated with NDSC’s qualified Clinical Decision Support Mechanism known as CareSelect, for compliance with the AUC consultation requirements of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA). Implementation of PAMA is scheduled for January 2019.

“NDSC now provides direct integrations to EMRs that represent over 95% of the market,” said Robert Cooke, Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at NDSC.

Additionally, the CareSelect Platform now includes robust content sets, developed by leading medical specialty societies and respected content sources such as the Mayo Clinic and the American College of Radiology. The expanded Platform includes solutions that cover Imaging, Lab, Pharmacy, and Blood ordering and include guidelines from the ABIM Foundation’s Choosing Wisely®.

“The newly released CareSelect Lab solution is a natural extension of NDSC’s capabilities to deliver EHR-integrated guidelines and brings together the industry standard for EHR-delivered guidance with the more than 1,500 best-practice care models-authored, curated and maintained by Mayo Clinic,” said Michael Mardini, CEO of NDSC.

Organizations use NDSC solutions to modify and adapt these guidelines, or develop new business or clinical logic supporting local or regional requirements.

“The delivery and tracking of evidence-based guidelines into EMR workflows are the new table stakes for effective care delivery, legislative compliance and success with variable payment models,” explained Cooke. “NDSC’s CareSelect Platform represents a single tool that healthcare organizations can leverage to author, curate and track the delivery of evidence-based guidelines into EMR workflows.”

CareSelect’s expanded content and integrations allow providers across the care continuum to implement a wide range of advisories and associated benchmarking and analytics tools to enable quality improvement, success with variable payment models and regulatory compliance across multiple service lines and EMRs.
